ProducePay Announces CEO Transition & Record Growth in 2022

ProducePay, a marketplace for the global produce industry, has announced the appointment of Patrick McCullough as its new CEO. McCullough has previously served as a board member and advisor to the company for two years and brings over 25 years of experience in international business development to the role. He will be succeeded as CEO by Pablo Borquez Schwarzbeck, the company’s founder, who will become the executive director of the board. ProducePay has experienced significant growth in the past year, with an 85% increase in year-on-year transactions and 279% growth in overall transactions on its marketplace. The company also launched a new Quick-Pay financing service and a carbon offset program for its grower customers.

ProducePay, a marketplace for the global produce industry, has announced the appointment of Patrick McCullough as its new CEO. McCullough, who has served as a board member and advisor to the company for two years, brings more than 25 years of corporate experience and expertise in international business development, structuring, and joint ventures to the role. He has previously held leadership positions at Ford Motor Company, Berkshire Hathaway, and Just Energy.

McCullough has played a key role in helping ProducePay raise capital and increase its gross merchandise value to nearly $4bn over the past two years. He will continue to scale the business and deliver customer and shareholder value as CEO. ProducePay’s founder, Pablo Borquez Schwarzbeck, will assume the role of executive director of the board. Co-founder Ben Dusastre will step down as president but remain a member of the board and part of the company’s credit committee.

ProducePay grew by 85% year on year in 2022 and saw a 279% increase in overall transactions on its marketplace. It also launched a Quick-Pay financing service and a carbon offset program for its grower customers.
