Sollum Technologies Secures Major Expansion Project in Ontario
Sollum Technologies announced that Roelands Plant Farms, a leading propagator in Ontario specializing in vine crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers, has selected its advanced dynamic LED lighting solution for a 12-acre expansion at its Lambton Shores facility.
According to Sollum Technologies, the decision followed a trial and post-trial financial analysis that indicated a favorable return on investment over the lifetime of the system compared to competing integrated lighting ecosystems.
During the evaluation phase, Sollum’s 360 Support team worked closely with Roelands Plant Farms to assess agronomic performance and optimize lighting strategies in real time.
Agronomic Performance Validated During Trial
The trial focused on how dynamic lighting influenced plant morphology and early-stage development. Adjustments were made to spectrum, intensity, timing, and daily light integral (DLI) to align with propagation requirements and changing environmental conditions.
Abhay Thosar, Chief Horticulture Specialist at Sollum Technologies, stated: “Propagation requires a high degree of precision and responsiveness. Roelands Plant Farms carefully assessed how dynamic lighting influences morphology, how it responds to daily lighting variations, as well as how agronomic guidance translates into early-stage consistency.”
The companies reported that results confirmed lighting plays a critical role in establishing uniform, vigorous plants prior to transplanting.
Sollum Technologies Highlights Economic Advantages
Sollum Technologies indicated that its all-inclusive pricing model provides access to its SUNaaS® platform without requiring additional third-party control investments. The company stated that the post-trial financial analysis demonstrated superior long-term ROI compared to alternative systems.
Edward Thoren, Head Grower at Roelands Plant Farms, commented: “Our goal is to provide our customers with healthy, consistent-quality young plants that are ready for success and as a business, we need to achieve this in a profitable manner. During the trial, we saw the benefits of dynamic in the early stages, and we appreciated Sollum’s presence and support throughout.”
Sollum Technologies stated that its dynamic LED lighting system is designed to provide flexibility and real-time responsiveness, supporting propagators across different growing seasons while maintaining quality and operational efficiency.
