AeroFarms AgX Opens In Abu Dhabi, UAE

AeroFarms, a leader in the controlled environment agriculture (CEA) industry, has unveiled its newest indoor vertical farm in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The AeroFarms AgX is the largest indoor vertical farm in the world for research and development, boasting 65,000 square feet of state-of-the-art laboratories to conduct organoleptic research and precision phenotyping, phytochemical analysis, and research on next-generation machine vision, machine learning, robotics, and automation.

This cutting-edge facility plays a crucial role in advancing sustainable CEA and indoor vertical farming, focusing on tackling the challenges of agriculture within the desert and arid climates. As part of the Abu Dhabi AgTech ecosystem, AeroFarms AgX collaborates with local companies and universities on research projects to develop new solutions for farming in extreme conditions.

One such partnership is with Silal, a UAE-based agricultural company, to improve vegetable and fruit varieties’ genetics and seedling quality, making them more resilient and tolerant to extreme growing conditions. The Collaboration Agreement signed between AeroFarms and Silal is a significant step forward in their shared goal of developing sustainable and efficient farming practices that address the challenges of climate change and food security.

To further promote innovation in the field of AgTech, AeroFarms will be hosting its 2nd Annual AeroFarms AgTech Innovation Summit at the Rosewood Hotel in Abu Dhabi on February 16, 2023. The summit will bring together over 24 speakers and more than 750 participants from over 60 countries to discuss the future of food and agriculture.

The summit will cover a wide range of topics, including sustainable farming practices, the latest advancements in indoor vertical farming technology, and the role of artificial intelligence and automation in farming. With experts from academia, industry, and government in attendance, the summit promises to be an exciting forum for exchanging ideas and advancing the field of AgTech.
