Agrobiomics Advances Commercialization With EIC Accelerator Backing
Agrobiomics, a Denmark-based BioAg company focused on resilient agriculture, has been awarded up to €7.5 million in blended financing through the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator program. The support will enable Agrobiomics to bring its novel biomolecule-based biostimulant technology to market, offering farmers a scientifically validated tool to protect yields under worsening climate conditions.
The company is preparing for the commercial rollout of its first two products targeting soybean and tomato, with plans to expand into cereals, fruits, and vegetables, especially in drought- and salinity-affected regions across Europe and globally.
Science-Driven Approach Replaces Skepticism with Evidence
Biostimulants have often faced skepticism, historically labeled as “snake oil” due to inconsistent field performance. Agrobiomics is actively changing that perception. Its biostimulant, derived from Streptomyces bacteria, primes plants’ natural stress responses, improving tolerance to drought and salinity while increasing yield potential.
Greenhouse and multi-site field trials have demonstrated consistent, measurable benefits, validating the product’s efficacy and positioning it as a viable alternative to more resource-intensive solutions such as irrigation or synthetic inputs.
“This recognition not only fuels our mission but also opens new opportunities to deepen our partnerships,” said Ananda Scherner, CEO of Agrobiomics. “We are excited for what’s ahead as this achievement is a testament to the passion and commitment of our incredible team.”
EU Funding Validates Market Potential and Accelerates Agrobiomics Scale-Up
The EIC Accelerator’s support signals strong institutional confidence in Agrobiomics’ innovation and commercial readiness. Mikael Bechsgaard, Chairman of the Board, commented:
“The EIC-A grant is a testimony to the founders and employees of Agrobiomics that the work with the nature-derived biomolecules has a lot of promise. We can now further accelerate efforts.”
With this funding, the company is set to expand its reach and fast-track regulatory and market entry strategies for additional crops and geographies.
