AlfaTech, a leading provider of integrated solutions and services, has partnered with Urban Crop Solutions (UCS) to become their integration and service partner for their products in the South East Asian region. After a successful joint project with the National University of Singapore, the two companies will work together on indoor vertical farming projects.
Since 2014, UCS has aggressively developed, acquired, and built indoor vertical farming solutions. The service component of an indoor vertical farm is a crucial tenet of their approach. Therefore, having a regional representative for after-sales service is a sensible and crucial move. UCS has constructed the National University of Singapore (NUS) Agricultural Translational Research Centre to advance high-density agriculture from innovation to industrial scale. The project’s primary technology partner was UCS.
AlfaTech and UCS see the potential for indoor vertical farming to address climate change, supply chain deficiencies, and other challenges that make agri-tech and indoor vertical farming techniques essential for food production and industry. AlfaTech sees potential in commercial food production, research infrastructure, and plant molecular farming applications as the industries with the highest potential in the short term.
Jean Pierre Coene, CEO of Urban Crop Solutions, notes that the core of every indoor vertical farming project will always be the plant growth solutions. AlfaTech’s partnership with UCS ensures that the South East Asian region can access UCS’s innovative plant growth solutions, while AlfaTech will provide the necessary integration and service support.
