Attune Agriculture Entrapment® Insecticide Receives EPA Registration

Attune Agriculture announces EPA registration for its new line of insecticides, Entrapment®, which will soon be available nationwide.

Key Takeaways

  • Attune Agriculture announces EPA registration for its new line of insecticides, Entrapment®, which will soon be available nationwide, including California.
  • Entrapment utilizes a physical mode of action powered by Rhexalloid® technology, creating adhesive traps to control insect and mite pests without causing phytotoxicity.
  • The insecticide is effective against a wide range of pests, with superior performance over conventional chemical insecticides in key crops.
  • Entrapment supports insect resistance management (IRM) strategies by minimizing pest resistance risks.
  • Extensively tested, the product has demonstrated better pest control results in crops like apples, almonds, cotton, and greenhouse tomatoes.

EPA Registration and Nationwide Availability

Attune Agriculture, a leader in hydrocolloid-based agricultural products, has announced that its new insecticide line, Entrapment®, has received EPA registration. The product will soon be available for use in all states, including California.

Entrapment is a non-systemic, contact insecticide that employs a physical mode of action to control insect and mite pests on various crops. Unlike traditional chemical insecticides, it poses no risk of phytotoxicity to plants.

Powered by Rhexalloid® Technology

The innovative active ingredient, Rhexalloid®, transforms spray droplets into adhesive traps that immobilize small insect and mite pests. These traps adhere to leaf surfaces, effectively capturing pests without disrupting their metabolic or nervous systems, reducing the risk of resistance development.

Entrapment’s design selectively targets pests without harming larger beneficial insects, making it a critical tool in insect resistance management (IRM) strategies.

Wide Range of Efficacy

Entrapment’s spectrum of activity includes control of aphids, thrips, psyllids, whiteflies, scales, leafhoppers, mites, plant bugs, flea hoppers, chinch bugs, and small caterpillars. The EPA-registered label includes applications across fruit, nut, vegetable, row crops, greenhouse settings, turf, and ornamental plants.

Greg Andon, CEO of Attune Agriculture, highlighted the significance of the product: “Entrapment insecticide provides a high level of control of many of the most important insect and mite pests in agriculture that can be applied up until harvest, a much-needed tool for growers. We believe its unique combination of physical mode of action, efficacy within a specific pest size range, and lack of phytotoxicity make Entrapment one of the most consequential new actives to be introduced in many years.”

Field-Tested Performance

Entrapment has undergone extensive field testing by third-party agricultural research facilities across the United States, demonstrating superior pest control compared to chemical standards:

  • Apples: 19.3% better codling moth control.
  • Almonds: 34% better navel orangeworm control.
  • Cotton: 13.6% better plant bug control.
  • Greenhouse Tomatoes: 40.9% better whitefly control.
