Bayer has joined forces with M2i Group to provide biological crop protection solutions to fruit and vegetable farmers worldwide. The partnership will see Bayer becoming the exclusive distributor of selected M2i products that target lepidoptera pests in crops, including tomatoes, grapes, and stone and pome fruits.
Jens Hartmann, the Regional Head for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), stated that customized solutions that satisfy farmers’ requirements for safe, efficient products with minimal or no residue form a crucial aspect of Bayer’s biological portfolio. He added that integrating M2i’s pheromone products with digital monitoring applications and Bayer’s current biological offerings will empower farmers to utilize the appropriate product at the right moment as part of a comprehensive approach that benefits their operations.
M2i Group is a leading producer of pheromones in Europe and is recognized for its expertise in developing and manufacturing complex molecules. The partnership with Bayer will allow the integration of M2i’s pheromone products and innovative press application technology into a digital solution. This solution will feature pest monitoring tools and synthetic and biological products. In addition, it will be customized to meet the needs of individual growers.

Phillippe Guerret, CEO of M2i, expressed excitement about working with Bayer and expanding the reach of their sustainable crop protection products to a broader audience of growers globally. He emphasized that pheromones offer a practical and cost-effective method of crop protection as they are selective, non-toxic, and naturally prevent the emergence of resistance. Guerret added that M2i’s patented technology, featuring innovative application devices and consistent linear release, allows for the full potential of pheromones to be utilized in fields around the world.
The pheromone crop protection products offered by M2i use biomimicry to fight pests by attracting and trapping or disrupting their mating behavior. These integrated pest management products help keep pest populations at manageable levels, are selective, non-toxic, and avoid the development of resistance. Bayer launched its latest biological and pheromone-based crop protection product, Vynyty Citrus, in 2021, and M2i’s products will continue to build on Bayer’s pheromone-based biological product line.
