Cereals Canada Shares 2025 Crop Insights With Global Buyers
Cereals Canada has released its 2025 New Wheat Crop Report, providing international and domestic customers with detailed information on milling performance, flour and semolina quality, and end-product characteristics. The report is a key annual reference for global buyers evaluating the performance of Canadian wheat.
Dean Dias, CEO of Cereals Canada, said Canada continues to deliver consistent quality. “Canada has produced another high-quality wheat crop with good functionality,” he stated. “In 2025–2026, 27.4 million tonnes of wheat is expected to reach more than eighty international markets, with the quality and protein content that customers expect.”
Includes National Wheat Data for the First Time
This year marks the first time the report includes data from Eastern wheat classes. Through a partnership with Grain Farmers of Ontario, Cereals Canada evaluated samples from Ontario alongside Western Canadian classes, expanding the scope of its Harvest Assessment Program.
Elaine Sopiwnyk, vice president of technical services, called it “a milestone year,” noting that the broader sampling strengthened the technical team’s national expertise and improved the process of preparing the report.
In 2025, Canadian farmers grew 36.6 million tonnes of wheat. Despite variations in Prairie growing conditions, mid-season rains supported higher-than-average yields. Eastern Canada benefited from favorable weather throughout the winter wheat season, resulting in strong yields and good quality. Protein content aligned closely with long-term averages, and all wheat classes demonstrated solid test weights and strong thousand kernel weights.
Cereals Canada Prepares for Global Outreach
As part of its annual New Crop engagement, Cereals Canada will connect with 29 countries that purchased $8.2 billion of Canadian wheat in 2024. The organization, together with the Canadian Grain Commission, producer groups, and value-chain partners, will present technical findings in two customer webinars on November 18 and 19.
Representative samples were collected across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario, covering CWRS, CWAD, CESRW, and Wheat, by Specification.
