CIBO Technologies Selected for Major USDA-Backed Conservation Program
CIBO Technologies has been selected as the technology partner for the Alliance to Advance Climate-Smart Agriculture, a $80 million grant-funded program led by Virginia Tech University. The initiative, supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), will provide financial incentives to farmers who adopt conservation practices such as cover cropping and crop rotation across agricultural land in Arkansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Virginia.
The selection of CIBO marks a significant step in leveraging software to support sustainable agriculture outcomes and the development of climate-resilient farming systems.
CIBO Technologies to Quantify Climate-Smart Practice Outcomes
As the program’s technology partner, CIBO Technologies will use its modeling and quantification platform to measure the environmental and economic impact of conservation practices. The data generated will help establish a system where sustainable agricultural outputs can be sold at a premium to buyers in food, fuel, and other sectors.
“CIBO is proud to partner with Virginia Tech and other members of the Alliance,” said Daniel Ryan, CEO of CIBO Technologies. “This program recognizes the growing need for measurable environmental and economic impact, and by aligning government funding with scaled quantification tools, we’re helping create a win-win for farmers, communities, and the planet.”
Incentives Linked to Resilience and Market Access
The Alliance aims to demonstrate how climate-smart practices can offer financial returns while addressing high input costs, weather-related risks, and environmental pressures. CIBO Technologies’ contribution will include tracking practice adoption and linking this data to emerging markets for climate-smart commodities and greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions.
Rebekah Slabach, Associate Director of the Alliance, noted: “CIBO is uniquely positioned to link Alliance MMRV data with opportunities for producers and deliver impact reporting across the ag value chain.”
CIBO Technologies Supports a Multi-Partner Climate Initiative
The Alliance to Advance Climate-Smart Agriculture includes more than 14 partners and is managed by Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The coalition’s approach combines public funding with private-sector tools to support a data-driven, scalable model for agricultural climate resilience.
By allocating funds directly to producers, the initiative seeks to create measurable outcomes for environmental stewardship and rural economic development. CIBO Technologies’ role is central to this effort, aligning digital solutions with incentive-based conservation at scale.
