Globalstar Supports CERES TAG as Zoonotic Disease Monitoring Becomes a Global Priority

Globalstar (NASDAQ: GSAT), a provider of satellite-based telecommunications infrastructure, has reaffirmed its partnership with CERES TAG, a livestock health intelligence platform, to deliver real-time connectivity for animal health monitoring—particularly in response to emerging threats like the New World Screwworm.

The recent outbreak of this disease in Mexico has led to border closures for live animal imports and heightened concern across the livestock industry. With the potential for hundreds of millions of dollars in economic losses, early detection and containment are critical.

“These are extremely devastating events,” said David Smith, CEO and Founder of CERES TAG. “But you can limit damage by supporting real-time traceability and detection with technology like what CERES TAG offers.”

Technology-Driven Livestock Monitoring Without Cellular Gaps

CERES TAG’s smart ear tags collect data on animal behavior, movement, and potential disease indicators. Unlike many traditional monitoring systems, the devices operate independently of cellular networks, making them suitable for remote ranches and biosecurity-sensitive environments.

The Globalstar satellite network ensures continuous communication of data from field to platform, supporting both producers and authorities in responding rapidly to biosecurity events.

“Satellite technology is no longer just a backup; it’s a core infrastructure of agricultural intelligence,” said Jake Rembert, Globalstar’s Vice President of Global Sales. “We’re proud to support CERES TAG in delivering real-world solutions that help protect food security and animal health globally.”

CERES TAG Expands U.S. Presence with Major Distribution Agreements

As part of its expansion strategy, CERES TAG has committed to deploying a minimum of 30,000 devices in the U.S. by year-end. The company has signed distribution agreements with MWI Health and Animal Health International, two of the largest animal health organizations in the country.
