Growcer has officially won the bid to acquire substantially all assets of Freight Farms, the Boston-based developer of containerized vertical farming systems that filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. The acquisition is pending standard closing conditions, with the transaction expected to finalize by the end of July 2025.

The acquired assets include Freight Farms’ software infrastructure, completed Greenery container farms, spare parts inventory, intellectual property, manufacturing blueprints, and support knowledge base. According to sources close to the bankruptcy court proceedings, the winning bid was $2.6 million. This amount has not been officially confirmed by Growcer.

Growcer’s leadership emphasized a commitment to ensuring continuity for Freight Farms’ global customer base. With installations in over 500 locations worldwide, the transition aims to provide stability for institutions and community organizations already using the technology.

According to sources, the backup bidder in the court-supervised process was Climactiva Group, LLC, with a bid of $2.575 million.
