Harbor IT Announces Acquisition of ZAG Technical Services
Strategic Move Expands Harbor IT’s Critical Infrastructure Capabilities
Harbor IT, a U.S. provider of cybersecurity, cloud, and managed IT services, announced the acquisition of ZAG Technical Services, a long-standing managed service provider specializing in agricultural manufacturing, food production, and process industries. The acquisition marks Harbor IT’s third deal in 2025 and further strengthens its Critical Infrastructure practice, one of its three dedicated business units serving complex, asset-heavy industries.
Founded in 1998 and headquartered in San Jose, ZAG has built a reputation for engineering precision and highly responsive customer service across manufacturing, defense, and food-sector operations. The company supports many of the nation’s leading leafy greens producers and brings deep experience operating at the intersection of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT).
Specialized Capabilities Join Harbor IT’s National Platform
With this acquisition, Harbor IT adds ZAG’s expertise in:
- Automation solutions development
- Business intelligence and analytics
- ERP and data systems
- OT/IT integration
- Managed IT and cybersecurity for mission-critical production environments
These capabilities complement Harbor IT’s existing Critical Infrastructure offering, which currently supports major U.S. airports, energy utilities, large water systems, and food production operations.
“ZAG is the perfect ‘Harbor’ business,” said Johnny Lieberman, CEO of Harbor IT. “Their team has spent decades inside the fresh-produce and manufacturing supply chain, keeping the IT and OT systems behind packing lines, cold storage, and shipping operations running the way operators need them to, without fail.”
Leadership Transition Strengthens Operational Excellence
As part of the acquisition, ZAG CEO Eric Regnier, a former U.S. Navy submarine officer, will join Harbor IT as Chief Services Officer, where he will oversee professional and managed services as well as client account operations. His mandate includes scaling delivery systems, standardizing service models, and integrating automation and AI to drive organizational growth.
“With Eric stepping in to lead more than 250 people here at Harbor, we’re raising the bar, especially as it relates to automation and intelligence for small and mid-market entities,” Lieberman added.
Regnier emphasized alignment between the two organizations: “ZAG has always measured success by the outcomes we deliver on the plant floor, in the field, and in the back office—not just by tickets closed. Harbor IT shares that mindset, and this partnership allows us to bring our clients more advanced services, more capacity, and even higher reliability.”
