HydroGreen Inc. Signs Deal with Van Der Kooi Dairy

CubicFarm® Systems Corp., a pioneering local chain agricultural technology company, has taken a significant stride forward with its subsidiary, HydroGreen Inc. The company recently announced a collaboration with Daniel Van Der Kooi, owner of Van Der Kooi Dairy, a prominent dairy farm based in Riverdale, California. This collaboration comes in the form of a Memorandum of Terms (MOT), wherein Van Der Kooi Dairy commits to purchasing a substantial 10,000 tons of sprouted-grain feed per year from HydroGreen’s forthcoming feed facility in Riverdale.

The initial building in the Riverdale facility is already fully committed, so Van Der Kooi Dairy will purchase feed from a second building, which will house ten additional HydroGreen GLS 808 commercial-scale machines. Each system of ten GLS 808 machines can produce a remarkable 34 tons of feed per day, adding up to approximately 12,000 tons of feed per building annually. Consequently, Van Der Kooi’s purchase of 10,000 tons per year represents the majority of the capacity of that second building.

The collaboration with Van Der Kooi Dairy serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it acts as a resounding validation of HydroGreen’s cutting-edge technology and its performance in the field. Secondly, it opens up new possibilities for HydroGreen to expand its sales to other dairy and beef operations in the region, thereby demonstrating the viability of their innovative Feed as a Service (“FaaS”) business model and fostering accelerated product adoption.

The Feed as a Service model is an ingenious agricultural concept where HydroGreen operates a regional feed facility and harvests the sprouted-grain nutrition from their machines to sell to livestock feeding operations in the area. This approach guarantees optimal feed production, stringent quality control, and ultimately leads to enhanced animal performance outcomes for producers.

HydroGreen is at the forefront of producing Automated Vertical Pastures™ smart farming equipment that employs a unique process to sprout grains, such as wheat and barley, in a controlled growing environment. This efficient method allows for the year-round production of high-performance feed ingredients for livestock. One of the standout features of HydroGreen’s equipment is its simplicity and ease of operation; it automates all growing functions, including seeding, watering, lighting, harvesting, and re-seeding, thereby ensuring consistent and nutritious feed every day with minimal labor.

Moreover, when incorporated correctly in the ration, HydroGreen’s sprouted grain has a positive impact on animal digestion, leading to increased productivity and reduced enteric methane emissions in ruminant livestock. This not only benefits the livestock producers but also has positive environmental implications. The reduction in methane emissions and the overall efficiency of HydroGreen’s process enable valuable farm-based inset and offset carbon credits, thus contributing to sustainable farming practices and addressing climate change challenges.

CubicFarms, the parent company of HydroGreen, is at the forefront of revolutionizing agriculture through technology. Their proprietary ag-tech solutions empower growers to produce high-quality, predictable produce and fresh livestock feed using HydroGreen Nutrition Technology. The CubicFarms™ system incorporates patented technology for growing leafy greens and other crops on-site, indoors, throughout the year. By providing an efficient and localized food supply solution, CubicFarms contributes to the well-being of people, the planet, and the economy.

The collaboration between CubicFarms and Van Der Kooi Dairy marks a pivotal moment in the advancement of sustainable livestock feed production. HydroGreen’s innovative Feed as a Service model, coupled with its Automated Vertical Pastures™ technology, holds the potential to revolutionize the way livestock feed is produced and consumed. As this project unfolds, it is likely to attract more attention from the agricultural sector, promoting sustainable practices and positively impacting livestock production and the environment.
