ICBA Marks Completion of New Research and Training Facilities
ICBA has inaugurated three new agricultural facilities at its headquarters in Dubai, developed in partnership with the Al Rostamani Group. The opening event was held in the presence of H.E. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and attended by senior representatives from government, academia, and the agricultural research community.
The facilities mark the final phase of a collaboration that began in 2023, when the Al Rostamani Group funded an expansion of ICBA’s capacity-building programs. Construction of the new complex started in October 2024, fully supported by the Group as part of its community initiatives.
ICBA Expands Capacity for Climate-Smart Agriculture
H.E. Marwan Abdulla Al Rostamani, Chairman of Al Rostamani Group, stated that the project reflects a shared commitment to supporting national sustainability priorities. “These facilities are pivotal to advancing the UAE’s strategic objectives in environmental and agricultural sustainability,” he said. “Our funding initiative is driven by a commitment to social responsibility and the belief that such projects create long-term value.”
He added: “We are pleased to contribute to efforts that support the UAE’s vision for environmental sustainability and food security, using research and technology to benefit future generations.”
The three new facilities are designed to strengthen ICBA’s research and training capabilities:
- Training and Knowledge Transfer Building: A center able to host up to 300 participants for workshops, seminars, and applied training programs for farmers, researchers, and policymakers.
- Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory: A dedicated space for propagation and research on key species such as date palms and mangroves, supporting biodiversity and genetic improvement.
- Integrated Agri-Aquaculture System: A research platform for sustainable food-production models that optimize water use in arid and saline environments.
These additions create a more integrated environment for applied research and skills development in climate-smart agriculture.
ICBA Strengthens Role in National Agricultural Innovation
The partnership aligns with Al Rostamani Group’s broader involvement in national sustainability and research initiatives. The Group noted that it continues to support projects aimed at developing scientific expertise, improving agricultural resilience, and contributing to food-security goals.
With the inauguration complete, ICBA now has expanded capacity to support researchers, farmers, and local institutions working on sustainable agriculture, water-efficient production, and resilient food systems across the UAE.
