Larendael Moves Forward With Jongerius Houten Relaunch

Larendael, the investment and development company of entrepreneur Wim Beelen, has reached an agreement with the bankruptcy trustee to relaunch activities at Plant Nursery Jongerius Houten B.V., Tuin Op Tafel, and Jongerius Onroerend Goed B.V. at the Houten location in the Netherlands. The agreement was signed following a competitive sale process initiated after the companies were declared bankrupt in late 2025 and early 2026.

The trustee, Mr. Marco Guit of AMS Advocaten, confirmed that Larendael’s proposal was selected after evaluating multiple bids. “The presented plan offers confidence in a careful and future-proof continuation of the activities,” Guit said.

Larendael Acquires 30-Hectare Nursery Site and Assets

With the transaction, Larendael becomes the owner of the approximately 30-hectare site in Houten, including the existing greenhouses, machinery, production lines, and installations. According to the company, this provides a solid foundation to restart and further develop operations at the location.

“We see great potential in this 30-hectare site and look forward to reviving the largest organic plant nursery in the Netherlands,” said Wim Beelen. “Step by step, we are building a sustainable future for the food industry here.”

Larendael stated that it will engage with existing personnel to explore how the business can be rebuilt collaboratively into a progressive and sustainable operation.

Phased Restart and Focus on Sustainable Production

Short-Term Priorities and Garden on the Table Concept

In the coming months, Larendael will assess production capacity, cultivation processes, and organizational structures at the site. Based on this assessment, decisions will be made regarding which activities can resume in the short term.

One of the first initiatives will be the cultivation of organic herb and vegetable plants for the “Garden on the Table” concept, which supports small-scale, space-efficient food production for consumers.

Stakeholder Engagement and Ongoing Bankruptcy Settlement

Larendael is also contacting existing customers and suppliers to evaluate which partnerships can be continued, taking into account feasibility, legal conditions, and post-bankruptcy requirements.

Meanwhile, the trustee continues to manage the settlement of remaining bankruptcy assets not included in the relaunch, including real estate in Harmelen. Creditors may continue submitting claims as the full debt position is clarified, with the aim of reaching a timely settlement.
