Néboda Raises €1.84 Million to Strengthen Vertical Farming Operations

Spanish startup Néboda, a specialist in indoor vertical agriculture, has closed a €1.84 million seed funding round to further develop its pre-industrial production system. The financing round includes backing from several strategic investors: Clave Capital (via its Mondragón Fondo de Promoción II), UNIRISCO, Xesgalicia, Eatable Adventures, and CDTI Innovación, Spain’s Center for Technological Development and Innovation.

The investment will allow Néboda to consolidate its production system, validate core business metrics, and finalize sales agreements with leading fruit and vegetable distributors across the Iberian Peninsula.

Hydroponics and Automation Drive Sustainability at Néboda

According to representatives from Clave Capital, the startup’s technological approach is a key differentiator. “The combination of hydroponics, automation, and computer vision optimizes every stage of the process, ensuring fresh, flavorful basil with a longer shelf life — all organically and without the need for pesticides, and at competitive costs compared to traditional agriculture,” said analyst Amaya Tanco and fund director Alberto Bermejo Urieta.

They added that Néboda’s system reduces water usage by more than 90% and minimizes its ecological footprint, “ensuring the product’s freshness from cultivation to the end consumer.”

Backing Innovation in Agriculture

With this new funding, Néboda is poised to expand its influence in the sustainable agriculture space. The round reflects growing investor interest in technological innovation applied to agriculture, particularly solutions that address climate challenges, resource efficiency, and food quality.
