The funds will accelerate the commercial application of an innovative solution pioneered at the Volcani Institute. Under the leadership of Dr. Dror Minz, the Institute has made a groundbreaking discovery: two bacteria species found in wheat roots that can naturally reduce N2O emissions.
This discovery is monumental considering the surge of N2O emissions by 30% in the last 40 years, primarily attributed to human activities. Approximately 73% of manufactured N2O emissions are due to agricultural soil management. Given the vast scale of global wheat cultivation, these findings present a promising solution to curb N2O emissions significantly.
