VertiFarm 2023: A Global Forum for Innovative Urban Food Systems and Next-Level Farming

Dortmund’s Messe is preparing to host its second international VertiFarm buyer-meets-seller show from September 26 to 28, 2023. Focusing on advanced farming and novel food systems, VertiFarm has distinguished itself as the exclusive global forum for the future of urban food supply.

VertiFarm provides a unique platform to explore controlled production systems for various products, including vegetables, fruits, salads, herbs, microgreens, alternative protein sources, medicinal plants, and recent fish and insect farming advancements.

The event will present a comprehensive portfolio of products and services targeting agriculture, food, and pharmaceutical stakeholders. The primary objective is to introduce innovative solutions and thought-provoking ideas to address one of the critical global issues – securing sustainable future supplies of local, fresh, and healthy food. VertiFarm enjoys support from the Association for Vertical Farming (AVF), the North Rhine Westphalia Retailers’ Association’s Westphalia & Münsterland branch, the Retail Industry Climate Protection Campaign, the Westphalia & Lippe Agricultural Association, and the German Pharmaceutical Industry Association (BPI).

Exhibitors from across the globe, including Europe, North and South America, and Asia, will spotlight trends and new technologies pertinent to innovative cultivation methods. They will provide an in-depth overview of aquaponics and hydroponics. Attendees can anticipate insights into technical automation from industry leader Bosch Rexroth AG, novel agricultural production systems in controlled environments by Vertical Future Ltd, and a range of innovative products from Dutch greenhouse technology expert Priva Horticulture BV. CE-Line BV from the Netherlands will demonstrate its proficiency in water and nutrient management for greenhouse horticulture. Germany’s Greens Holding GmbH will blend technology and sustainability to produce premium fruits and crops, while the UK’s INDO Lighting Ltd will display lighting systems optimized for growth. Seawater Cubes GmbH will showcase a sustainable alternative for future decentralized fresh sea fish supplies.

The event will also host the 7th International Summit of the Association for Vertical Farming. Renowned scientists, industry representatives, investors, and government officials will discuss crucial topics like the gap between science and reality in vertical farming, the role of new technologies in enhancing yield and quality while reducing costs, and the prerequisites for urban supplies of nutritious, healthy foods via indoor and vertical farming.
