VisionEdgeOne Finalizes Investment in RE2Sources
VisionEdgeOne (VE1) has completed its investment in RE2Sources, marking its entry as a joint-controlling co-investor in the Italian biomethane platform. The investment was executed on behalf of participants in the VisionEdgeOne Infrastructure Partnership platform. VE1 now joins Arjun Infrastructure Partners, a European mid-market infrastructure manager, in co-leading the asset.
RE2Sources is considered one of Italy’s prominent biomethane operators. Its six anaerobic digestion plants collectively process around 220,000 tons of municipal waste per year, converting waste into renewable biomethane that is injected into the national gas grid. The facilities also produce sustainable fertilizer and biogenic CO₂, supporting a fully circular operating model.
Biomethane: A Growing Market in the European Union
The EU biomethane market has expanded significantly in recent years, driven by policy support, renewable gas targets, and the push for energy resilience. VE1’s investment targets this momentum, aligning with its strategy to invest in mid-market infrastructure platforms that advance sustainable development and modern energy systems.
VE1 Chairman Boe Pahari highlighted the deal’s significance: “We welcome the completion of this investment in RE2Sources, which we believe stands out as a highly attractive opportunity in the biomethane space, supporting the energy transition, Europe’s energy security, and providing a solution for waste.”
He added that RE2Sources reflects VE1’s focus on assets with strong infrastructure fundamentals and long-term growth potential.
Arjun Infrastructure Partners Welcomes VE1 as Co-Investor
Arjun Infrastructure Partners, which previously oversaw the platform, noted that the partnership strengthens RE2Sources’ growth outlook.
Managing Partner Surinder Toor said: “We welcome VE1 as our co-shareholders in this asset, which is positioned for success in the coming years. We look forward to continuing to grow RE2Sources, a true circular economy platform that addresses key needs in both energy supply and waste processing.”
