Leading Cities and QBE are proud to announce the 2023 QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge, a global competition that will transform cities worldwide by accelerating the growth of start-up companies. This year marks the fifth consecutive year that QBE has partnered with Leading Cities to bring this exciting initiative to life. The QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge has been ranked among the top 5 GovTech accelerators in the world, making it an unparalleled opportunity for emerging entrepreneurs.
The Smart City Track of the QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge will offer a $25,000 People’s Choice Award for one company in the Eastern and Western Hemisphere curriculum groups and a Grand Prize of $100,000 in funding for the winning venture to implement a pilot project. The competition is open to entrepreneurs whose innovations provide sustainable solutions for cities. QBE North America is sponsoring two AcceliCITY Smart Challenges this year: the Resilient Buildings Track and the Sustainable Small Farms Track.
The Resilient Buildings Track and the Sustainable Small Farms Track will allow semi-finalists to compete for a spot in the more extensive Smart City AcceliCITY Track. For the Sustainable Small Farms Track, QBE is seeking solutions that help farmers, such as Agtech, distribution channel solutions, risk management, data tracking, and more in both the traditional and organic crop sectors. The Resilient Buildings Track is seeking solutions to help to building owners and operators better understand and manage the risks associated with climate change.
Submissions for the competition will close on April 30, 2023. Semi-finalists will participate in a three-month virtual accelerator program, followed by a B2G boot camp and pitch competition for the finalists. The winners will receive the Grand Prize of $100,000 to implement a pilot project in a city, two People’s Choice prizes of $25,000 each, $25,000 to the winner of the Resilient Buildings Track, and $25,000 to the winner of the Sustainable Small Farms Track. In addition, all semi-finalists and finalists will receive additional resources and access to valuable connections to help scale their initiatives globally. This includes membership to Leading Cities’ first in-the-world metaverse space, LaunchPad 11, which clusters start-ups, corporations, industry experts, investors, and city leaders from around the world daily in one virtual community.
