Supporting UAE’s Vision for Agricultural Resilience

The launch of AgraME 2024 supports the UAE’s Vision 2030, focusing on addressing the region’s unique agricultural challenges such as extreme heat, water scarcity, and desertification. Ahmed Khalil, Portfolio Director of AgraME, highlighted the event’s role in promoting discussions on regenerative agriculture and innovative solutions to improve soil health, water conservation, and biodiversity. “By adopting regenerative methods, the UAE can enhance its agricultural resilience, mitigate the effects of climate change, and support long-term food security in the region,” Khalil stated.

Spotlight on Regenerative Agriculture and Technological Innovation

A major feature of AgraME 2024 is the Regenerative Agriculture Middle East Conference, which brings together visionary leaders to discuss sustainable farming practices. The two-day conference opened with a keynote address from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and features discussions on regenerative agriculture technology, desertification strategies, and global partnerships. Panels on “Investing in Regenerative Agriculture” are examining soil restoration, water-efficient farming, and carbon sequestration as critical components in addressing the region’s environmental constraints.

Eng. Ohoud Abdulla Mohamed Al Ali, Acting Director of Agricultural Control at Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), discussed how drone technology is being used for farm inspections in the Abu Dhabi Emirate. “Drone technology enhances inspection systems, allowing immediate detection of non-compliant practices, supporting ADAFSA’s strategy for agricultural sustainability and biosecurity,” Al Ali said, emphasizing the role of AI-driven solutions in improving efficiency.
