Louis Dreyfus Company and PepsiCo Launch Regenerative Agriculture Program in Saskatchewan

Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) and PepsiCo have announced a joint regenerative agriculture program in Saskatchewan, Canada — one of the world's leading canola-producing regions and a primary sourcing area for LDC ingredients supplied to PepsiCo operations across the US and Canada. The initiative is designed to help Saskatchewan farmers adopt regenerative and restorative practices aimed at improving soil health, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and protecting local ecosystems.

From 25,000 to 45,000 Acres: LDC and PepsiCo Scale Their Impact

In its first year of operation in 2025, the program engaged 16 farmers across 25,000 acres, resulting in approximately 26,000 tons of canola produced in line with the program's regenerative agriculture framework. For 2026, LDC and PepsiCo are targeting expansion to 45,000 acres. Participating farmers are supported through the Canadian Prairies Trusted Advisor Partnership (TAP), which connects growers with advisors offering science-based guidance on scaling regenerative practices at the farm level.

Progress is tracked using the Cool Farm Tool, a standardised platform that estimates and monitors farm-level emissions, biodiversity, and related indicators, enabling farmers to quantify changes and refine their approaches over time.

“Our program with PepsiCo reflects our shared focus on supporting regenerative agriculture practices through this collaboration, and our belief that joint investment and actions are essential to scale and accelerate the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices. Together, we aim to contribute to more resilient farming systems that help to conserve ecosystems and natural resources, while fostering climate resilience and prosperity for farming communities,” said Paul Hrycyk, Regenerative Agriculture Project Manager at LDC.

A Shared Commitment to Farmer Resilience

Both companies frame the initiative as a long-term investment in supply chain resilience as much as an environmental programme. LDC and PepsiCo emphasise that supporting farmers in transitioning to more sustainable practices is essential for the durability of agricultural supply chains in the face of climate-related risks.

“By working closely with farmers to understand what works best for their operations, we can help promote the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices that can support soil health and strengthen resilience on the farm. When farmers thrive, we all thrive,” said Margaret Henry, VP of Sustainable and Regenerative Agriculture at PepsiCo.
