Key Takeaways
- MyEasyFarm, Croptic, and Hyler have launched SMART HEMPDATA, a 24-month cross-border project to optimise hemp cultivation using AI, drone imagery, harvesting telemetry, and carbon calculation tools.
- The project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg France-Wallonia-Flanders programme via the Crossroads initiative, with support from regional development bodies across France and Belgium.
- The three partners bring complementary expertise: MyEasyFarm (dMRV platform and CO2 calculations), Croptic (AI and drone-based crop diagnostics), and Hyler (harvesting machinery telemetry and real-time sensors).
- A key objective is the AI-powered prediction of optimal hemp harvest dates, enabling growers to improve quality, maximise yields, and quantify CO2 emission reductions from hemp cultivation.
- Data sovereignty is central to the project: no farmer data will be shared without explicit consent, with progress tracked through half-yearly reports.
MyEasyFarm, Croptic, and Hyler Launch SMART HEMPDATA Cross-Border Hemp Innovation Project
MyEasyFarm, an agricultural data specialist, has announced the official launch of SMART HEMPDATA, a 24-month cross-border collaboration with Croptic and Hyler aimed at transforming data management and decision-making in hemp cultivation. The kick-off meeting took place on 12 March at the Grand E-Nov+ premises in Bezannes, marking the start of a project co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg France-Wallonia-Flanders Crossroads programme.
Three Platforms, One Integrated Hemp Intelligence System
SMART HEMPDATA is built on the integration of three complementary platforms. MyEasyFarm (France) provides the dMRV infrastructure for data aggregation, carbon calculations, and the user interface through its MyEasyCarbon solution. Croptic (Flanders, Belgium) contributes AI and drone imagery for crop health diagnostics. Hyler (Flanders, Belgium) supplies telemetry and real-time sensor data from harvesting machinery. Together, the three systems will work toward full platform interoperability, enabling AI-powered prediction of optimal hemp harvest dates, early identification of crop stress or disease, and calculation of CO2 emission reductions associated with hemp production.
“SMART HEMPDATA is a perfect illustration of our ‘Measure, Monitor, Transform' methodology. By connecting Hyler harvesting machines and Croptic's intelligence to our platform, we are creating a standard for traceability and performance in the hemp sector, a driving force behind the low-carbon transition,” said François Thierart, CEO of MyEasyFarm.
Farmer Recruitment, European Funding, and Data Sovereignty
A phased recruitment of farmers is underway to begin collecting field data from the project's earliest months. The initiative is carried out in collaboration with POM West-Vlaanderen, POM Oost-Vlaanderen, VLAIO, Wallonie Entreprendre, Grand Est Développement, and the Hauts-de-France Region, with additional support from regional authorities across France and Belgium. MyEasyFarm has committed to placing data sovereignty at the centre of the project — no farmer data will be shared without explicit consent — with half-yearly progress reports ensuring rigorous monitoring throughout the two-year programme.
