ABZ Innovation Secures $8.2 Million to Accelerate Growth

ABZ Innovation, a Europe-based manufacturer of heavy-duty agricultural and industrial drones, has announced the close of an $8.2 million funding round. The round was led by Vsquared Ventures, with participation from Day One Capital and Assembly Ventures.

According to the company, the investment will support its next phase of growth, including scaling manufacturing capacity, accelerating product development, and expanding its presence in key global markets. The investor group brings experience in hardware, robotics, and deep technology commercialization.

ABZ Innovation Positions European Alternative in Global Drone Market

As Chinese manufacturers dominate much of the global drone market, ABZ Innovation is positioning itself as a European-made alternative in the heavy-duty segment, emphasizing supply chain security and data sovereignty.

Headquartered in Hungary’s growing robotics cluster, ABZ Innovation combines cost-competitive hardware with a full-stack European autonomy platform. Its drone systems are already deployed in more than 25 countries, with growing traction in the United States.

Thomas Oehl, General Partner at Vsquared Ventures, said ABZ Innovation approaches drones “not as individual products, but as an end-to-end automation platform for real industrial and agricultural use cases.”

Agricultural Applications Drive ABZ Innovation Deployment

Precision Spraying and Spreading for High-Value Crops

In agriculture, ABZ Innovation’s drones are designed for demanding, real-world conditions. Spraying and spreading drones enable more precise application of crop protection products and fertilizers, supporting reduced chemical and water use while addressing labor shortages, particularly in orchards and other high-value crops.

By automating repetitive and labor-intensive tasks, the company aims to improve efficiency and consistency in agricultural operations while reducing operator exposure to chemicals and challenging field conditions.

“Our mission is simple: we build drones that take people out of dangerous, repetitive work while helping farmers and industrial operators do more with less,” said Karoly Ludvigh, CEO of ABZ Innovation.

Industrial Use Cases and Safety Benefits

Beyond agriculture, the company's systems are deployed in industrial environments, including cleaning and maintenance operations in hazardous settings. The company’s drones are used to perform tasks at height or on contaminated surfaces, reducing risk to workers and minimizing operational downtime.

Assembly Ventures Co-Founder Felix Scheuffelen noted that ABZ Innovation’s focus on hardware performance, data security, and supply chain reliability positions the company to compete across European and U.S. markets.

Scaling Production and Global Expansion

Backed by investors with experience scaling hardware and deep-tech companies, ABZ Innovation plans to use the new capital to expand manufacturing, deepen research and development, and strengthen its global distribution and service network.

Csaba Kákosi, Managing Partner at Day One Capital, highlighted ABZ Innovation as an example of Central and Eastern European deep-tech companies achieving global relevance.

ABZ Innovation stated that its long-term objective is to make advanced heavy-duty drone technology more accessible worldwide, enabling agricultural and industrial partners to operate more efficiently, safely, and with fewer resources.
