Centralized Root Zone Monitoring Through Platform Integration Between Grodan & Source.ag

Grodan, the Netherlands-based stone wool substrate company, has connected its GroSens Suite root zone sensors with Source.ag‘s greenhouse management software. The integration allows growers to consolidate substrate measurements and cultivation metrics on a single platform, removing the need to alternate between separate tools.

Source.ag users can now access GroSens data at the individual sensor level through Source Workspace dashboards. The readings appear alongside other greenhouse parameters in weekly overviews, daily summaries, and at five-minute intervals, giving cultivators a detailed, near-real-time view of conditions in the growing medium.

Grodan Expands Open Connectivity Network

Source.ag joins a group of horticulture technology companies that have connected with the GroSens API. The integration agreement, finalized in mid-January 2026, followed a trial period with existing customers from both organizations.

Gerben van der Lugt, Global Marketing & Solutions Director at Grodan, said the company's sensors are designed specifically for its own substrates. “In combination with our industry-leading stone wool growing media, GroSens Suite provides the most reliable rootzone data around, because our sensors are fully optimised for Grodan substrates,” he said.

Van der Lugt added that the partnership fits a broader data-sharing strategy: “Grodan is committed to open connectivity, and we are delighted to add Source to our network of leading partners. Together, we can make it even easier for our joint customers to leverage the most reliable insights into rootzone conditions for continuously improving yields, plant resilience, fruit quality, efficiency, and sustainability performance.”

Automated Irrigation Through Real-Time Sensor Data

The connection also supports automated crop management. Source.ag's Irrigation Control feature can now draw on GroSens measurements to adjust watering schedules without manual intervention, the companies said.

Lotte Adema, VP of Product at Source.ag, described the practical scope: “Not only can growers now see and compare Grodan data with all their other greenhouse data in their Source.ag weekly overview, daily metrics, and as five-minute data. This integration also enables them to use GroSens sensors to automate their irrigation strategy with Irrigation Control.”

Adema said the two companies share a common goal: “We feel a close affinity with Grodan because we share the same mission: empowering growers to provide everyone around the globe with sufficient fruits and vegetables, in a climate-resilient and resource-efficient way.”

Availability and Access

The integration is open to all growers using both GroSens Suite and Source.ag's platform. The API connection can be requested through Grodan or Source.ag account managers.
