The two days at the Pordenone Fair ended with the triptych of events, AquaFarm, NovelFarm, and AlgaeFarm, dedicated to innovative and sustainable food and useful substances for industry production. The number of visitors is in line with the data of the 2020 edition which had led to a + 15% in the number of registered entries. The excellent percentage of foreign participants is also confirmed, validating the internationality of these events.
“Also this edition confirmed the quality of the project we focused on 5 years ago together with the team of partners and collaborators who operate with us: AquaFarm and NovelFarm are growing every year, nationally and internationally, a clear sign of how the topics dealt with truly represent strategic issues for the nutrition of the future” declared the President of Pordenone Fiere, Renato Pujatti. “The format that combines exhibition stands and a program of specialized conferences is a winner because these fairs look towards innovation and research: two fundamental spheres for the leading sectors, strongly projected towards the future, and in which we want to invest further”.

The projects on which to invest in the future are numerous, as the President Pujatti explains: “NovelFarm, which has now become the reference event in Italy and Southern Europe for new generation agricultural crops, in a protected environment, vertical farm and hydroponics, after three editions in which it was held simultaneously with Aquafarm, from 2023 will have a different time frame taking place as an independent event on 23 and 24 March always in Pordenone. To confirm how strategic the sector is for Pordenone Fiere on 26 May an important meeting of vertical farming and soilless crops companies was held on the sidelines of NovelFarm, preparatory to the birth of the first trade association for companies in the sector. The project is called ANIFUS, the National Association of Out-of-Ground Companies, and since its presentation, it has found a great welcome amongst the professionals who finally see recognized also in terms of their representation a sector that is becoming more and more of reference for the future of agriculture. Pordenone Fiere is at their side.
The conference-events saw the presence of 120 exhibitors (35% from abroad) who were hosted in Halls 4 and 5 of the Exhibition Centre, for a total of 6,900 square meters of exhibition space. A fundamental component of the event, as always, was the conference programme on the most important trends in the sector (i.e. European programmes, energy costs, sustainability, innovation, digitalization).
The three events, as always, were promoted and supported by important collaborations, including for AquaFarm the partnership with API, the Association of Italian Fish Farmers, and with AMA, the Mediterranean Aquaculture Association, which respectively represent fish and shellfish breeders. AISAM (Italian Association for the study and applications of microalgae) collaborated in the drafting of the AlgaeFarm conference programme. Chamber of Commerce of Pordenone and Udine and ITA (Italia Trade Agency) support the three events.
AquaFarm in Piazza continued until 28 May in Piazza XX Settembre in the centre of Pordenone in collaboration with MIPAAF, an interactive space dedicated to quality Italian aquaculture.
In the evening, show cooking and tasting open to the public were organized. In the morning, instead, space for schools for “Italian Aquaculture – Next Generation” with playful-educational workshops to discover the quality of Italian fish products.
