Key Takeaways

  • RESIL®, a non-microbial biostimulant from BioLiNE® Corporation and marketed in Europe by NutriTrain BV, has received expanded certification under the European Union’s EN 17700:1 regulatory framework.
  • The updated certification covers additional agronomic claims, including improved tolerance to heat and drought stress, enhanced nutrient use efficiency, and support for quality traits such as root growth and yield.
  • The certification applies across 42 broadacre crops and 83 vegetable, ornamental, and aromatic/medicinal plant (AMP) species.
  • Field data submitted in support of the certification include a reported 12.5 metric ton per hectare increase in onion yield from two applications of 1 litre per hectare.
  • RESIL® has been used commercially in North America since 2018 and is applied on over one million hectares annually.

Regulatory Update Expands Application Claims for RESIL®

BioLiNE® Corporation‘s product RESIL®, a biostimulant recognized as a non-microbial formulation (PFC 6.B), has received updated certification in the European Union. The certification, issued under the EN 17700:1 standard, broadens the scope of approved claims to include additional performance benefits across a wide range of crops.

RESIL® was initially certified in 2023 and is marketed in the European market by NutriTrain BV. The updated approval enables its use for improving plant responses to abiotic stresses and optimizing nutrient use, in line with regulatory requirements for efficacy and environmental safety.

Certified Claims Include Stress Tolerance and Nutrient Efficiency

With the latest certification, RESIL® is now authorized to make the following agronomic claims:

  • Abiotic Stress Support: Enhanced tolerance to drought and heat across broadacre and specialty crop groups.
  • Nutrient Use Efficiency: Improved uptake and utilization of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
  • Crop Development Parameters: Documented improvements in parameters such as pod and seed count, root biomass, chlorophyll content, and yield.

The product’s certification dossier included field trial data demonstrating yield improvements. For example, in one study, onions treated with RESIL® showed a reported increase of 12.5 metric tons per hectare under a two-application program.

Commercial Use and Market Background

RESIL® is sold in North America as BioLiNE® Gold and has been commercially available since 2018. According to company data, the product has been applied to more than one million hectares across Canada and the United States annually.

The biostimulant is compatible with a variety of application methods, including tank mixes with fertilizers and pesticides. Its CE-marked status indicates conformity with EU product quality and safety regulations.
