Compass Technology Group Introduces Advanced Moisture Testing Innovation

Compass Technology Group has announced the launch of its new Peanut Moisture Measurement System (MMS), a major advancement in peanut testing technology designed to deliver faster, more accurate, and more reliable in-shell moisture results. Developed with direct input from farmers and buying points, the system enables users to obtain laboratory-grade accuracy in as little as 30 seconds.

The Peanut MMS uses advanced 5 GHz microwave technology to measure kernel moisture from 6% to 20% with an accuracy of ±0.5 percentage points. It operates effectively across a wide temperature range from 32°F to 122°F, ensuring consistent and repeatable results for both farmers and processors.

“The Peanut MMS is more than just an upgrade—it’s a leap forward for the industry,” said Becky Schultz, CEO of Compass Technology Group. “By listening to the needs of farmers and buyers, we’ve created a system that is rugged, easy to use, and delivers unmatched precision. We’re proud to provide technology that truly empowers the agriculture community.”

Designed for Durability and Ease of Use

Engineered for real-world field and drying shed conditions, the Peanut MMS features a three-button touchscreen interface and USB connectivity for updates and peripheral integration. Its design minimizes moving parts—limited to a single plastic slide gate for sample release—enhancing durability and reducing maintenance needs.

“The engineering challenge was to create a system that balances advanced technology with everyday usability,” said Ren Geryak, Lead Engineer at Compass Technology Group. “The result is a device that’s intuitive, dependable, and provides the critical data farmers need to make faster, smarter decisions about their crops.”

Compass Delivering Efficiency Across the Peanut Supply Chain

The system’s optimized sample volume supports downstream testing and ensures seamless integration into existing workflows. Capable of operating in conditions with up to 90% non-condensing humidity and temperatures from 25°F to 120°F, the Peanut MMS is built to perform reliably under demanding agricultural conditions.

By enabling quick and accurate moisture readings, Compass Technology Group’s Peanut MMS helps reduce inefficiencies in peanut drying and processing, improving decision-making and profitability across the supply chain.
