CULT Food Science Corp’s Cultivated Pet Food Ingredient, Bmmune®, Shows Superior Postbiotic Material for Pet Health (2023/07/20)

CULT Food Science Corp. announced additional results from third-party nutritional testing of its initial cultivated pet food ingredient, Bmmune®. The latest data indicates that the postbiotic content in Bmmune® is superior to plant-based sources, thus significantly enhancing gut health, digestion, and immunity in pets.

The lab results highlighted the high concentration of polyphenols present in Bmmune®. Polyphenols, found in a variety of fruits and other plant-based sources, play a crucial role in pets’ health. For context, fresh fruits like apples, pears, and berries usually contain about 200 to 300 mg of polyphenols per 100 grams, whereas Bmmune® is loaded with 1,000 mg per 100 gram serving.

Pets, such as dogs and cats, do not directly digest polyphenols. These compounds are typically broken down by intestinal bacteria present in pets’ guts, which then produce health-enhancing by-products like short-chain fatty acids. Apart from this, polyphenols have demonstrated efficacy in fighting inflammation, improving intestinal health, reducing oxidative stress, and potentially curtailing cancer-related bacterial activity.

Bmmune® is a patented blend of high-protein nutritional yeast and fermentation products. It serves as the core ingredient in CULT’s Noochies! Cultivated Pet Food brand. CULT has meticulously developed Bmmune® to offer unique and lasting benefits to both dogs and cats, specifically focusing on areas like gut health, digestion, immunity, and longevity.

Apart from its health benefits for pets, Bmmune® exhibits substantial environmental advantages. As a low-input ingredient, it can be produced without extensive use of arable land, fresh water, and carbon-emitting farm animals or machinery. Recent studies reaffirm Bmmune®’s superior sustainability credentials by highlighting its impressive protein and amino acid profiles.

Commenting on the latest findings, Joshua Errett, VP of Product at CULT, stated, “Bmmune®, with its fermented and cultivated proteins, can provide all 10 amino acids and impressive gut health benefits to dogs without requiring a long list of ingredients or multiple supplements.”

Furthermore, Dr. Sarah Dodd, BVSc, MSc, PhD, DECVCN, noted, “As a cultured protein, Bmmune yeast was able to be developed to meet very specific nutrient targets. It’s more than ‘just’ a great protein source; Bmmune is also a functional ingredient intentionally designed to promote the health of dogs consuming it.”
