Key Takeaways

  • Direct Carbon will present the Wunderpumpe-2, a compact carbon capture system, at GreenTech Amsterdam 2025.
  • The system uses direct air capture (DAC) to provide sustainable CO₂ enrichment for indoor farms.
  • Designed for small spaces, it targets nurseries, container farms, and in-store agriculture.
  • Direct Carbon has expanded its product line to support CO₂ capture from 2kg/day to 200kg/day.
  • The company is exploring new partnerships to scale deployment across international markets.

Direct Carbon Prepares for GreenTech 2025 Launch of Wunderpumpe-2

With GreenTech Amsterdam 2025 now less than a month away, Direct Carbon (Profile) is preparing to introduce the Wunderpumpe-2 (WP-2), its most compact carbon capture solution to date. Weighing only 30 kilograms and occupying less than one cubic meter, the WP-2 is aimed at growers who require efficient CO₂ enrichment in limited spaces.

The system captures carbon dioxide directly from ambient air, offering a stable alternative to liquid CO₂ deliveries, which can be expensive or logistically challenging for smaller-scale growers. It is particularly well-suited for use in nurseries, research labs, in-store urban farms, and container-based operations.

“Our goal is to give indoor growers access to sustainable CO₂ options that fit their unique environments,” said Mattias Karls, CEO of Direct Carbon.

Direct Carbon Expands Product Line to Meet Diverse Farm Needs

In addition to the upcoming debut of the WP-2, Direct Carbon recently expanded its Wunderpumpe range, now offering models with CO₂ capture capacities from 2 kg/day to 200 kg/day. These solutions are designed to serve a variety of operations—from pilot trials to fully commercial vertical farms—while relying on DAC technology.

The expansion is part of the company’s broader strategy to support more sustainable and cost-effective carbon supplementation in controlled environments. By reducing dependence on fossil-based CO₂, the systems also contribute to emissions reduction goals.

Market Demand and Growth Strategy

Initial market response has been strong, with several growers placing pre-orders for the Wunderpumpe systems. The WP-2, in particular, has attracted interest from those looking to trial CO₂ enrichment without committing to large-scale infrastructure.

To support this momentum, Direct Carbon is actively seeking new partnerships with integrators, distributors, and greenhouse operators. The company aims to scale adoption in Europe and beyond, focusing on markets where sustainable CO₂ alternatives are increasingly in demand.

Visitors to GreenTech Amsterdam, held June 10–12, can meet the Direct Carbon team at Booth 560 in Hall 5 to learn more about the technology.
