eX² Technology Celebrates New Wireless Network for Precision Agriculture
eX² Technology joined Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, Yuma County officials and community members to celebrate the launch of a dedicated AgTech Wireless Tower Network designed to expand high-capacity connectivity across one of the country’s most productive agricultural regions. The network will support real-time data collection, advanced automation tools and next-generation precision farming technologies.
Agriculture remains central to Yuma County’s economy, with nearly 190,000 acres under cultivation and more than $3.2 billion in annual agricultural output. eX² Technology is developing a system of towers spanning nearly 160,000 acres of irrigated farmland to support AI-enabled machinery, IoT sensors, drones, GIS mapping, irrigation automation and autonomous farm vehicles.
eX² Technology Marks Progress Toward Smart Farming Infrastructure
County Supervisor Jonathan W. Lines described the network as a step toward transforming the region into a testbed for agricultural innovation. He noted that the mesh network “connects more than just fields,” emphasizing its potential to support data-driven farm practices and long-term resource protection.
The project is financed through a $6 million State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds grant under the American Rescue Plan Act. The investment aims to accelerate digital agriculture adoption and improve operational reliability for growers across the region.
Governor Hobbs Supports Broadband Expansion and AgTech Innovation
During the ceremony, Governor Hobbs signed two bills: one recognizing autonomous farm vehicles as instruments of husbandry, and another establishing a Broadband Service District Authority to oversee the agricultural broadband system.
“With the Yuma County middle-mile project and the broadband towers that we helped fund, we're establishing a high-capacity broadband backbone making game-changing impact that supports real-time data collection, autonomous equipment and remote sensing,” she said.
Christopher Rabii, President and CEO of Vivacity Infrastructure Group, noted that the company is “honored to partner with Yuma County to build a dedicated network infrastructure that connects growers with the tools they need to lead the country in agriculture innovation.”
Joins Yuma County at Groundbreaking Event
The groundbreaking took place on November 12 at Northside Highway 95 and Avenue 9E during the three-day 2025 Yuma Desert Difference event, organized by the University of Arizona’s Yuma Center of Excellence for Desert Agriculture. The network is expected to become fully operational next year, supporting enhanced connectivity across the region’s agricultural landscape.
