Hort Americas Expands Organic Offering with Launch of OAN 10‑0‑0®

Hort Americas’ Collaboration with Avé Organics delivers new liquid nitrogen solution for growers

Hort Americas, in partnership with Avé Organics, has introduced OAN 10‑0‑0®, a liquid organic nitrogen fertilizer formulated to meet the immediate nutrient demands of organic and hydroponic growers. The product provides 100% plant-available nitrogen, combining nitrate and ammonium forms in a 50/50 blend that is usable at the time of application.

Designed to improve ease of use and reduce risks associated with traditional organic inputs, OAN 10‑0‑0® is OMRI-approved, pathogen- and weed-free, and manufactured in the United States.

“This is the next step in creating sustainable and productive organic systems,” said Chris Higgins, president of Hort Americas. “It gives growers the immediate uptake of nitrate nitrogen and the lasting benefits of ammonium nitrogen—without the handling challenges, logistics issues, odor, or inconsistencies of traditional inputs.”

Production and Environmental Benefits

Utilizes VARCOR™ system for efficient nutrient recovery

Unlike traditional organic nitrogen sources that require mineralization, OAN 10‑0‑0® is ready for immediate plant uptake. It is produced using the VARCOR™ system, which recovers ammonia from digestate and converts it into liquid nitrogen, organic pellets, and clean water.

This process reduces energy use by 90% compared to conventional drying methods and results in a greenhouse-gas-negative footprint—supporting more sustainable fertilizer production practices.

Key Features and Agronomic Benefits

High-performance nutrient delivery with reduced risk

  • 100% plant-available nitrogen, no phosphorus (P) or potassium (K)
  • Low odor, low solids, and no risk of drip system clogging
  • OMRI-listed and LGMA compliant, with a 0-day pre-harvest interval
  • Pathogen-free, with rigorous batch testing and published lab results
  • Salt-free, reducing the risk of soil salinity buildup
  • Multiple application methods: fertigation (drip, sprinkler, pivot), banded, broadcast, or foliar

Availability and Application Of The New Hort Americas Product

Targeting yield, efficiency, and sustainability for organic growers

OAN 10‑0‑0® is now available through Hort Americas in 270-gallon totes, making it suitable for commercial-scale organic and hydroponic operations seeking improved nitrogen efficiency, crop performance, and sustainability.
