Premier Expands Retail Network With Winston Tractor Acquisition
Premier Equipment Company has acquired Winston Tractor Company, a Winston-Salem, North Carolina–based dealership, effective December 15, 2025. The transaction increases Premier’s organization to five retail locations and strengthens its presence in a fast-growing regional market for agricultural, compact, utility, and construction equipment.
Premier Equipment Company operates as an affiliate of Curtis Lane Equipment. The addition of Winston Tractor extends the company’s reach in North Carolina, a geography experiencing sustained demand from agricultural producers, residential landowners, contractors, commercial operators, and public-sector customers.
Expanded Equipment Brands and Service Capabilities
Winston Tractor Company contributes a high volume of compact tractor, utility tractor, and construction equipment sales to the combined organization. As part of the transaction, Case IH Agriculture is added to Premier’s equipment portfolio, complementing its existing New Holland Agriculture and Construction offerings.
According to the company, the acquisition enhances customer support through expanded parts inventory, broader service capabilities, a wider selection of new and pre-owned equipment, and an expanded workforce.
“The Premier team is excited to expand our business with the addition of Winston Tractor,” said Spencer Bellamy, President of Premier Equipment. “The two companies share the desire to build and support trusted relationships with our customers, employees, and communities.”
Bellamy added that the company plans to continue serving agricultural producers, homeowners, contractors, governmental agencies, and commercial businesses across the region previously supported by Winston Tractor.
Premier Equipment's Acquisition Marks End of Multi-Generational Dealership
The transaction marks the conclusion of more than 60 years of dealership operations by the Cockerham family. Winston Tractor Company had been owned and operated by the family, whose history in the equipment business began in the 1960s.
“Winston Tractor is a long-standing dealership owned and operated by the Cockerham family,” said Bobby Cockerham. “The sale of Winston Tractor marks the end of more than 60 years of dealership operations by the family.”
The family entered the industry with the opening of Charlotte Tractor in the 1960s and later expanded into multiple locations across North Carolina. Over time, the business became known for its customer service, product knowledge, and strong community relationships.
