Rainbow expands manufacturing footprint in North America

Rainbow announced the opening of its new Partner Production Center in Champaign, Illinois, a purpose-built, 182,000-square-foot facility designed to enhance efficiency and flexibility in the North American agrochemical supply chain. The center is the tenth of its kind worldwide and represents a significant step in Rainbow’s ongoing investment in integrated production and distribution systems for agriculture, turf, and ornamental markets.

Facility features and capabilities

The Champaign Partner Production Center features six fully automated production lines capable of bulk, tote, and case packaging for selective and non-selective herbicides. The facility also includes 22 loading docks and a Free Trade Zone designation to streamline imports and exports.

A dedicated formulation unit enables the production of multiple product types, including suspension concentrates, emulsifiable concentrates, and ester formulations. Phase two of the project, set to begin next year, will expand these technical capabilities even further.

Tom Lyons, General Manager of Rainbow North America, said, “We’re thrilled to bring Rainbow’s advanced global manufacturing capability to Champaign, the heart of Midwestern AgTech. This facility represents our deep commitment to empowering our partners with a new standard for quality and efficiency, bringing agrochemical supply, unchained.”

Collaboration with the local community

The Grand Opening Ceremony, attended by leaders from the Champaign business community, highlighted the facility’s role in regional economic development. The City of Champaign Mayor’s Office officially proclaimed the event date as “Rainbow North America Day.”

Carly McCrory-McKay, Executive Director of the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation, noted, “Rainbow’s investment in Champaign strengthens our growing AgTech ecosystem and brings new jobs, innovation, and advanced manufacturing expertise to the region.”

Strengthening Rainbow’s global network

Strategically located in the Midwest, the Champaign facility supports rapid bulk service operations to meet the demands of regional agriculture.
