Rumin8 Strengthens Methane Reduction Capabilities Through ROAM Agricultural Acquisition
Rumin8 has announced its acquisition of ROAM Agricultural (ROAM), a spin-out of Loam Bio focused on developing cattle methane-abatement solutions. The move expands Rumin8’s pipeline of TBM-based delivery formats and aligns with the company’s strategy to offer multiple pathways for reducing emissions across livestock systems.
“ROAM has focused on the same active ingredient as Rumin8 and has developed delivery formats that expand our portfolio to reach production systems that can benefit from an extended release profile,” said David Messina, CEO of Rumin8.
Technology Alignment Positions Rumin8 to Accelerate Product Development
ROAM initially explored a fungi-based approach to producing tribromomethane (TBM) before advancing to synthesized TBM. The acquisition includes alternative manufacturing and delivery processes, broadening the technical foundation available to Rumin8.
According to Messina, the ROAM solution complements the company’s existing offerings and supports the need for diverse methane-abatement tools in the livestock sector.
“We have consistently said that the global market to abate methane emissions from livestock is large and diverse enough to support multiple solutions, and Rumin8 can now deliver multiple product formats including granules for feed, a drinking water additive, and sustained-release solid formats including mineral mixes and boluses,” he said.
Rumin8 intends to apply its development experience and manufacturing partnerships to advance ROAM’s products into formal testing, regulatory pathways, and commercialization.
ROAM Leadership Highlights Strategic Fit
ROAM Agricultural CEO Derek Peterson underscored the alignment between the two companies’ technologies and commercialization strategies.
“ROAM's technological advancements are a perfect complement to Rumin8's existing suite of products,” Peterson said. “Rumin8 has already made significant traction on the path to commercialisation, and it makes perfect sense to pass the baton to a seasoned team with a clear road map to market.”
He added that the methane-reduction potential of TBM-based tools has an important role in global climate efforts.
