  • Advancing Zero-Emission Agriculture: The move aligns with Solectrac’s commitment to pioneering the transition to zero-emission regenerative agriculture and utility operations.

  • National Cooperative Partnerships: Awarded e-tractor vendor status with The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) and The Association of Educational Purchasing Agencies (AEPA).

Solectrac, a leader in the electric tractor industry and a subsidiary of Ideanomics (NASDAQ: IDEX), today unveiled a significant strategic reorganization aimed at enhancing its business model. The California-based company, renowned for its innovation in regenerative agriculture, is shifting its focus from dealer expansion to direct-to-consumer sales and forging partnerships with select dealers in pivotal markets.

Embracing Electrification and Sustainability

This strategic pivot is rooted in Solectrac’s dedication to leading the charge towards zero-emission regenerative agriculture and utility operations. By tapping into government EV subsidy programs and cooperative purchasing agreements, Solectrac aims to make electrification more accessible and incentivize the adoption of clean energy solutions. This approach is not only eco-friendly but also aligns with Solectrac’s mission to offer affordable, sustainable alternatives to traditional agricultural practices.

National Cooperative Partnerships and Initiatives

Solectrac’s recognition as an e-tractor vendor by The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) and The Association of Educational Purchasing Agencies (AEPA) marks a significant step forward. These partnerships will assist various public and educational entities in adopting clean energy solutions, enhancing operational efficiency, and achieving capital efficiency.

Furthermore, Solectrac’s active participation in the Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE) underscores its commitment to promoting zero-emission equipment in California. With CORE’s backing, Solectrac has successfully sold over 60 tractors, evidencing the demand and potential for electric tractors in the market.

Pilot Program at North Carolina Zoo

In collaboration with North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives, Solectrac is initiating a yearlong pilot program at the North Carolina Zoo. This program features the e25G compact tractor and aims to assist the Zoo in reaching its ambitious goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2025. The electric tractor will be utilized for various operations within the Zoo, showcasing the practical benefits and sustainability of electric tractors in everyday use.

Jim Musilek, Vice President of Innovation and Business Development for North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives, expressed optimism about the pilot program, highlighting its potential to showcase the benefits of electric tractors not only for the Zoo but also for businesses and consumers statewide.

A Forward-Thinking Shift

Robin Mackie, Solectrac’s Interim CEO and Ideanomics COO, emphasized the importance of this strategic shift: “We are excited to shift Solectrac’s business model to drive robust growth and strengthen the connection to our customers in markets that are on the forefront of the electrification movement and beyond.” Mackie’s statement reflects Solectrac’s commitment to directly engaging with customers and expanding participation in programs supporting electrification.
