The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) released new data showing that global public agricultural research and development (R&D) expenditure reached $50.4 billion in 2023, measured in constant 2015 purchasing power parities — an increase from $35.9 billion in 2004 and an average annual growth rate of 1.8% over the two-decade period.
