UpTerra, a company focused on redefining water performance in agriculture, announced the appointment of Dr. Shiv Tiwari as Chief Science Officer. In his new role, Dr. Tiwari will guide scientific development and innovation for the company’s core technologies, including its flagship product TerraFlow.


Advancing TerraFlow and water efficiency technology

TerraFlow leverages patent-pending vortexing and frequency imprinting technology to enhance the performance of irrigation water. The system improves water uptake and plant absorption, while reducing runoff and evaporation. By making water more effective for crop production, UpTerra aims to help growers increase efficiency and sustainability across agricultural operations.

A leader in plant and animal sciences

With more than 6,000 citations and over 25 scientific publications, Dr. Tiwari is among the most cited researchers in plant and animal sciences. He holds over a dozen patents, including innovations at Corteva (formerly DuPont Pioneer) that improved regeneration and transformation in hardy corn varieties, accelerating seed development.


Extensive industry and academic background

Dr. Tiwari previously served as CEO and CTO at GreenVenus, where he led the company from inception through commercial readiness, advancing regulatory approvals and field trials. His career also includes senior roles at Third Security, Intrexon, Mendel Biotechnology, and Corteva.

In addition to his corporate leadership, Dr. Tiwari has taught at the University of Missouri, Northeastern University, and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Life Sciences and an MBA with high honors from Boston University.
