Trinity AgTech Expands Data Capabilities Through Agrimetrics Acquisition
Trinity AgTech, part of Trinity Natural Capital Group, has acquired a significant portfolio of satellite data analytics technology from Agrimetrics, a long-standing provider of cloud-based data marketplaces and analytics for the agri-food sector. The acquisition strengthens Trinity AgTech’s ability to deliver high-frequency, credible insights into farm performance and natural capital assets.
The satellite analytics tools were developed by Agrimetrics over more than a decade and have been used across private and public sector projects, ranging from yield forecasting to environmental monitoring.
Trinity AgTech Integrates Satellite Analytics Into the Sandy Platform
Completing the Data Capture Loop
Trinity AgTech’s flagship platform, Sandy, is already used to assess soil health, carbon, biodiversity, water quality, and financial performance within a single system. Prior to the acquisition, the platform combined farmer observations, on-farm software, soil testing, LiDAR scanning, and other remote sensing inputs.
By integrating Agrimetrics’ satellite imagery analysis and AI-enabled tools, Sandy will now deliver near real-time insights on crop and grass performance, soil conditions, water flows, and overall natural capital assets across the UK, Europe, the United States, and other regions.
With more frequent and higher-resolution data, Trinity AgTech expects analytics to become more robust, user-centric, and operationally relevant. Farmers can be alerted earlier to crop stress, disease risk, or water shortages, while also quantifying outcomes such as yield forecasts and carbon sequestration with greater credibility.
Supporting Farm Profitability and Natural Capital Markets
The enriched data environment is designed to help farmers optimize inputs, reduce waste, protect soils, and improve productivity. In parallel, the improved evidence base supports participation in emerging natural capital markets by providing reliable, verifiable data on environmental stewardship.
This opens potential new revenue streams for rural businesses, particularly through high-quality carbon, biodiversity, and environmental credits.
Continuing UK Agri-Tech Innovation
Agrimetrics was established in 2015 as one of the UK’s four Agri-Tech Centres and became fully commercially funded in 2024. Its technologies have been deployed across the agri-food supply chain and by government bodies to address challenges such as soil quality improvement and reduced herbicide use.
“This passing of the torch from Agrimetrics to Trinity AgTech is a win for UK and global agri-tech,” said Dr. Hosein Khajeh-Hosseiny, Founder and Executive Chairman of Trinity Natural Capital Group. “Integrating Agrimetrics’ market-leading technology into our ecosystem means farmers and land managers will have even more robust analytics with a much lower data collection burden.”
David Flanders, Director of Agrimetrics, added: “It is fantastic to see Trinity AgTech take this forward. Trinity’s vision for empowering farmers aligns perfectly with the original mission of Agrimetrics, and this acquisition ensures the technology reaches even more end-users.”
Professor Jonathan Hillier, Managing Director of Science at Trinity AgTech, said the integration will allow farmers to receive actionable intelligence with minimal additional effort. “It’s about working smarter, not harder, and helping farmers make better, more profitable decisions in real time.”
