Accenture, a global professional services company, has announced its plan to acquire Green Domus Desenvolvimento Sustentável LTDA, a leading sustainability consultancy based in Brazil. The acquisition aims to bolster Accenture’s Sustainability Services team and enhance its offerings in measurable decarbonization strategies. While the financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed, the move aligns with Accenture’s commitment to expanding its sustainability-focused capabilities and helping clients accelerate their net-zero transitions.
According to statistics, only 7% of global companies are currently on track to meet their net-zero targets by 2050. Recognizing the urgency to address climate change, businesses across industries are seeking innovative approaches to expedite their sustainability efforts. With the acquisition of Green Domus, Accenture aims to provide clients with solutions that incorporate carbon data and insights into their decision-making processes. Green Domus brings deep knowledge of sustainability frameworks, such as the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), voluntary carbon credits, and emerging regulatory schemes like the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in the European Union.
Green Domus, founded in 2005, specializes in decarbonization strategies and boasts two decades of industry experience. Its expertise in measuring carbon emissions data and facilitating net-zero transitions has benefited diverse sectors, including natural resources, agriculture, consumer goods, and retail. By delivering customized mitigation plans based on achievable reduction targets, Green Domus has helped clients reduce costs while promoting sustainability. The company’s support encompasses product lifecycle assessments, materiality assessments, sustainability measurements, and performance, as well as sectoral analytics projects.
Matthew Govier, the Latin America Sustainability Services lead for Accenture, highlights the complementary nature of Green Domus’ carbon measurement capabilities and Accenture’s suite of advanced sustainability services, particularly in net-zero transition solutions. Govier emphasizes the transformative potential of these services in driving industry change, fostering resilience, and enabling the adoption of sustainable business models.
Felipe Bottini, CEO of Green Domus, believes that by joining Accenture, they will have the opportunity to leverage the company’s scale and sustainability focus to address the disruptions affecting communities and the planet. Recognizing the impending impact of such disruptions and the increasing regulatory compliance requirements, Bottini envisions utilizing Accenture’s latest technologies to collaboratively embed sustainability into long-lasting solutions that tackle global challenges like decarbonization.
The acquisition of Green Domus marks the latest addition to Accenture’s portfolio of sustainability-focused companies. The move follows the company’s strategy of expanding its global capabilities and investing in top talent to create sustainable value and impact for its clients. Recent acquisitions in the sustainability services space include Avieco, Carbon Intelligence, Greenfish, akzente, and Zestgroup.
