Compass UOL Empowers its Software Engineers with AI Cockpit to Expedite Software Development

Compass UOL, a leading digital services firm, has announced a significant investment in its software engineering team by equipping them with AI Cockpit, a cutting-edge generative artificial intelligence (AI) system. The new AI platform accelerates software delivery to clients across various sectors, including agriculture.

AI Cockpit incorporates several generative AI and automation tools into an integrated development environment, streamlining the entire software development life cycle. This enhancement covers the five main phases of software development: analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

Among the tools integrated into AI Cockpit is Agile Cockpit, a long-standing offering from Compass UOL to its clients. Agile Cockpit measures the software development life cycle, generating key metrics and insights. It also connects with various software applications such as Jira and GitHub, enabling it to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the development process.

The decision to upgrade Agile Cockpit to AI Cockpit followed a 2023 study indicating that emerging generative AI models could potentially halve the time required to complete a typical software project within the next two years. The study revealed that a software use case typically takes 78 hours and could be completed in 36 hours with the assistance of generative AI.

One particular application of the technology involves feeding customers’ voice messages into a custom tool to expedite gathering use case requirements—a traditionally labor-intensive task at the start of every software project.

While the study did highlight concerns among software engineers that AI might eventually outperform human developers, Compass UOL views AI as a tool to assist, not replace, software engineers.

Alexis Rockenbach, CEO of Compass UOL, commented, “Mission-critical applications are inherently complex. With AI Cockpit, we enable our team to adopt generative AI tools and platforms that can effectively expedite software development life cycle aspects. It also helps them to avoid areas that might not be suitable for the precise and reliable answers required for complex decision-making activities.”

As AI continues to shape the software development landscape, Compass UOL’s integration of AI Cockpit represents a significant step toward leveraging AI technologies to enhance productivity and efficiency.
