Nuclea Energy Adds Moltex’s Reactor and Recycling Technology

The portfolio covers Moltex’s Waste to Stable Salt (WATSS) used nuclear fuel recycling process, along with its Stable Salt Reactor – Wasteburner (SSR-W) and FLEX reactor designs. It includes 80 granted patents spanning nine patent families, plus nine pending patents tied to the WATSS process. Moltex has drawn more than C$96 million in private and public-sector funding to develop the technology.

Deal Structure and Regulatory Review

Nuclea Energy Canada Inc. will acquire the relevant Moltex technology assets and subsidiaries from Moltex Energy Limited, which is currently in administration. Completion remains subject to closing conditions, including approval under the United Kingdom’s National Security and Investment Act 2021. Once the transaction closes, Nuclea intends to keep Moltex Energy Canada running as a dedicated research, engineering and regulatory-development business.
