Acquires Remaining 85% Of METOS® Canada (2023/03/03)

METOS® Canada was established in 2018 to sell and support the METOS® IOT line to the Canadian farming industry. Since then, the company has grown significantly, with over 2000 weather stations and other IOT products sold and rented to over 250 business partners across Canada.

With the acquisition, the Austrian company plans to develop new products specifically for Canadian farmers, including yield prediction models for canola and small grains, insect traps, remote crop cameras, NDVI and nutrition sensors, and new solutions for better water and risk management. The company also aims to provide big data to farmers to help them better understand climate change and variability.

Gottfried Pessl, CEO and Founder of Pessl Instruments believes that the acquisition will help de-risk farming operations by connecting every field in real-time. He notes that his company has almost 40 years of business excellence and knows the needs of its clients, enabling the company to provide the best ROI for farmers. Pessl Instruments plans to take over all existing employees and build a larger group that includes METOS® USA and METOS® Mexico in a single holding.

The acquisition is a testament to Pessl Instruments’ commitment to the farming industry and its mission to provide farmers with the latest technological innovations. With the expansion of its product offerings and consolidation of ownership over METOS® Canada, Pessl Instruments is well-positioned to provide Canadian farmers with the tools they need to succeed.
