Sungrow Delivers Battery System for Sweden's Grid
Sungrow's PowerTitan 2.0 battery energy storage system has entered commercial operation at the Ånge project in Sweden, which developer Delta Capacity says is now the largest commissioned battery storage project in the Nordic region.
The 70 MW / 160 MWh facility was built to withstand challenging Nordic weather and wide temperature swings. It moved from the start of procurement to commercial operation in 15 months, a pace the project's backers pointed to as evidence that large-scale storage can be built quickly in the region.
Supporting Sweden's Power System
Located in bidding zone SE2, the Ånge facility is designed to help balance Sweden's power system, offering rapid response for frequency regulation and the ability to participate in energy arbitrage across the Nordic market. Centrica Energy manages the buying and selling of electricity for the site around the clock.
“Ånge is a great example of how large-scale energy storage is built in practice. Fast, at the right scale, and with the right partners like Delta Capacity. Our role is to be a long-term partner and contribute to expanding renewable energy capacity in Sweden,” said Samer Nameer, Country Manager Sweden at Sungrow.

Sungrow Growing Nordic Footprint
The project was acquired from RES in February 2025, with Sungrow supplying the PowerTitan 2.0 system alongside suppliers including Stenger & Ibsen Construction, Rejlers, Green Power Monitor, Solvina and Ellevio. According to SolarPower Europe, Sweden and Finland together installed more than 1 GWh of new battery capacity in 2025 as regulatory changes opened balancing markets to storage assets.
Sungrow's Nordic presence includes offices in Stockholm, Malmö, Copenhagen and Helsinki, supporting a broader European network of 25 offices and 26 warehouses.
