Thryve.Earth Lands Its First Corporate Offtakes
Thryve.Earth, a nature-based carbon-removal developer, signed its first corporate offtake deals, covering more than 635,000 tonnes of carbon removals over 10 years. Google and McKinsey bought through the Symbiosis Coalition, a buyers’ group for nature-based removals, taking more than 335,000 tonnes combined, while Tencent committed to 300,000 tonnes. The agreements rank among the larger nature-based removal commitments signed to date.
Restoring 6,000 Hectares in Sulawesi
The removals come from restoring 6,000 hectares of degraded grassland in Sulawesi, Indonesia. The project uses an agroforestry system that pairs timber trees with sugar palm, papaya, avocado, coffee, banana, chili and corn, so the land stores carbon while producing food and income for nearby communities.
