Wikifarmer, the Athens and Seville-based online agricultural platform, has announced the launch of its UK operations. The move is intended to simplify and reduce the cost of importing Mediterranean olive oil by connecting British buyers directly with producers in Spain, Greece, and Italy.

The decision follows a notable decline in Spanish olive oil prices and a rise in UK olive oil imports, highlighting increased demand. Forecasts project continued market growth, creating an opportunity for new sourcing models.

Wikifarmer Co-Founder and CEO Ilias Sousis described the UK as a strategic market for improving how businesses source olive oil, particularly amid supply chain disruptions and inflationary pressures.

Wikifarmer’s platform connects buyers with a network of over 15,000 verified European agricultural producers. More than 7,000 buyers have used the service to conduct direct transactions. UK Sales Manager Sam Frearson noted that British buyers faced rising import costs in recent years, and emphasized the platform’s ability to provide more reliable and cost-effective access to Mediterranean suppliers.
