CropX Technologies has added the Apex multi-depth soil sensor to its product lineup. The sensor offers configurable depth options and continuous, high-resolution root zone sensing capabilities fully integrated into the CropX digital agronomy platform.
Available in 12″, 24″, and 36″ configurations, Apex measures volumetric water content, soil temperature, and salinity at 4-inch intervals throughout the soil profile. The sensor connects via standard SDI-12 to CropX telemetry devices (TD2) and enables automated moisture status detection, irrigation insights, leaching detection, and other agronomic analytics without requiring user configuration.

High-Resolution Technology for Improved Crop Management
The Apex sensor provides significantly greater depth resolution than traditional fixed-point sensors through its tapered cylindrical design, which is installed with a matched tapered auger to minimize soil disturbance and maintain strong sensor-to-soil contact across installation depths.
During field validation testing, Apex measurements were compared with laboratory-measured undisturbed soil samples across multiple soil types, crops, and irrigation conditions. The testing confirmed reliable measurement performance across irrigation wetting and drying cycles.
