  • OMRI Listed ammonium bicarbonate fertilizer provides immediate nitrogen availability for organic crops.
  • Trials indicate potential for higher yields and profitability in the organic agriculture sector.

Bion’s Innovative Organic Nitrogen Fertilizer Shows Strong Trial Performance

Bion Environmental Technologies, Inc. (OTC QB: BNET), a leader in advanced organic nitrogen fertilizers derived from organic and manure waste, announced promising results from recent crop growth trials using its Liquid AB fertilizer.

Liquid AB is produced through a patented process that captures ammonia and CO₂ released during biogas generation from organic waste. The result is an ammonium carbonate/bicarbonate fertilizer that is OMRI Listed, the recognized standard for organic agriculture. As a soluble nitrogen source, Liquid AB is immediately available to plants, supporting increased yields and enhanced productivity for organic growers.

Bion’s Trial Results Across Multiple Crops

Cannabis
At Southern Illinois University’s College of Agriculture, Life and Physical Sciences, indoor trials using ammonium bicarbonate as a nitrogen source for cannabis demonstrated superior vegetative growth. Treated plants were taller overall, with increased chlorophyll content and enhanced plant density. Findings were published in the July 2025 issue of the International Journal of Plant Biology.

Tomatoes
Outdoor trials at Southern Illinois University compared ammonium bicarbonate to conventional synthetic fertilizers and two OMRI Listed organic nitrogen products. Plants fertilized with Liquid AB exhibited equivalent vigor and production, confirming the product’s effectiveness for organic tomato cultivation.

Milo (Sorghum)
BetterFedFoods (BFF) conducted Phase 1 trials combining Bion’s Liquid AB with its algae-based bio-stimulant, A+. Treated plots outperformed the control, showing taller and denser plant growth. Phase 2 of the trial is underway to further evaluate the combined fertilizer and bio-stimulant performance. Bernie Hansen, founder of BFF, noted, “Bion’s ammonium bicarbonate fertilizer has tremendous potential. It provided improved plant growth that was taller and denser than the control in every single circumstance.”

Bion Expanding Organic Solutions

Bion has also distributed Liquid AB samples to stakeholders in organic agriculture, consumer products, and energy sectors for evaluation. These include a global chemical processor, a major indoor organic grower, an international energy company, and leading U.S. organic fertilizer distributors.

Craig Scott, CEO of Bion, commented, “We are pleased, but not surprised, by these early results. Soluble nitrogen is soluble nitrogen. Our organic version matches the performance of fast-acting synthetic fertilizers, giving growers the readily available nitrogen they’ve lacked. This will boost yields, productivity, and profitability, while supporting a growing organic market.”

Bion anticipates delivering initial supplies of Liquid AB at the farm level in 2026.
