Low-Carbon Agriculture Seminar at COP29

South Korean climate tech company Greenery, Inc. will host a seminar and exhibition on transitioning to low-carbon agriculture and animal husbandry from November 11 to 13 at the Korea Pavilion in the Blue Zone of COP29 in Azerbaijan. The seminar, scheduled for November 12, will showcase Greenery’s latest advancements in sustainable agriculture through two real-world case studies.

The first case study focuses on a smart farming system developed in collaboration with South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency. This system monitors paddy water levels in real time to reduce methane emissions while conserving water resources. The second case study will demonstrate the use of livestock waste to produce biochar, a material that sequesters carbon for up to one hundred years, offering significant potential for greenhouse gas mitigation.

Launch of ENVION LCA Software and POPLE Carbon Credit Platform

Greenery, Inc., which provides consulting services in climate action planning, Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), and climate risk management, recently introduced ENVION, an LCA software solution designed to assess the environmental impact of products across their life cycles. Currently in final negotiations with several major global companies, ENVION aims to support industries in understanding and minimizing their carbon footprints.

Greenery also operates POPLE, a carbon credit certification and marketplace platform. The POPLE Secretariat is dedicated to high standards of credit verification, facilitating transparent and reliable carbon credit transactions.

Panel Discussion and Exhibition on Sustainable Farming

Following the case study presentations, a panel discussion will address new technologies and methodologies to reduce carbon emissions in agriculture. Panelists include:

  • Saskia Sanders, Senior Policy Advisor, Federal Office of Agriculture, Switzerland
  • Pankaj Kumam, Founder and Managing Director of Enviance
  • Soojeong Myeong, Chief Research Fellow, Korea Environment Institute

The exhibition, running from November 11 to 13, will feature presentations on sustainable farming practices, showcasing practical steps toward a low-carbon future in agriculture.

Agriculture as a Climate Solution

Yoosik Hwang, CEO of Greenery, commented on the significance of the event: “The Conference of the Parties brings together the world’s leaders to shape solutions for a sustainable future. We’re here to show that agriculture isn’t just part of the problem of global warming. It’s a crucial part of the solution.”
