Key Takeaways
- MediSun Energy signed an Ecosystem Partnership MoU with JA at the DRT SHOW Chengdu expo.
- The partnership pairs MediSun’s VASAR miniaturised seawater desalination units with JA’s solar, storage and smart-energy platform.
- The combined offering targets off-grid islands and coastal conservation zones that face high energy use, high emissions and high operating costs.
- The system purifies seawater on-site with no grid connection, diesel generators or heavy civil works.
- MediSun frames the model as a route to long-term water security while protecting marine ecosystems.
MediSun Energy has signed an Ecosystem Partnership Memorandum of Understanding with JA at the DRT SHOW Chengdu International Diving and Resort Travel Expo, aiming to build zero-carbon water systems for island and coastal environments. The collaboration combines solar power with compact desalination to tackle water scarcity in places far from mainland grids.
How the MediSun Energy Partnership Works
The two companies will deliver an integrated framework spanning solar photovoltaics, battery storage, smart energy management, seawater desalination and ESG reporting. JA will supply green power capability through its JAx ecosystem platform, while MediSun Energy provides its VASAR series, a miniaturised seawater desalination system that condenses industrial-grade water production into a compact footprint.
Solving the Island Water Problem
Remote islands and marine conservation zones typically rely on expensive grid expansions, weather-dependent rainwater collection or diesel-powered desalination that carries a heavy carbon footprint. By pairing solar generation with MediSun Energy’s VASAR units, the joint solution removes the need for large civil works, fossil-fuel generators and grid connections, purifying seawater on-site with no carbon emissions and lower operating costs.
Leadership on the MediSun Energy Deal
“Remote islands and fragile coastal eco-zones are on the front lines of water scarcity and climate vulnerability,” said Joseph Chua, President and Co-Founder of MediSun Planet Pte Ltd. “By miniaturising seawater desalination into our compact VASAR systems and pairing them with JA’s renewable energy platform, we are delivering an end-to-end, zero-carbon solution that guarantees long-term water security while protecting marine ecosystems.”
“Partnering with MediSun Energy allows us to extend clean power directly into essential water infrastructure, creating a scalable, zero-carbon model for island development,” said Sure Liu, JA’s Chief Sustainability Officer and President of Global Brand and Marketing.
